Q: What is Buy with Prime?
Buy with Prime orders utilize the customer's Amazon Prime account to handle the transaction include purchase and delivery. The product is shipped from an Amazon warehouse. The order qualifies for all of the customer's Prime benefits and uses the customer's usual Amazon Prime payment method. However, Model Landmarks pricing and promo codes apply.
Q: What else do I need to build my model?
We recommend a good quality PVA wood glue (white glue) and a sharp knife. There are a number of PVA glues to choose from and they typically dry clear. The good thing about PVA is that you have time to reposition your parts if you mis-align them. Examples of PVA wood glue brands are Titebond and Elmers. Do not use Gorilla glue or super glue. You will also need a sharp knife to remove individual parts from their sheets. You can use a hobby razor but a steak knife works just as well. Finally, you'll want a flat work surface to construct the model.
Q: Are these kits hard to build?
No! You don’t have to be a craftsman or experienced builder. You just need to be able to follow instructions (and we know that's not everyone's cup of tea). Every step in our instructions includes an illustration and every part is clearly marked in the instructions as well as on the part sheets. The Guggenheim Museum model is the simplest model to build, so we suggest starting with this one if you are new to modeling or unsure of your skills.
Q. Could someone build it for me?
We offer a Finished Model option if you would prefer to have an experienced modeler build your kit. Select that option when ordering. Please allow two (2) weeks for us to build and ship your model.
Q: What happens if I do something wrong?
Our models come with (we would like to think) clear, easy to follow instructions so it doesn't happen very often. If you position a part with adhesive backing incorrectly you can peel them apart and reposition them. The adhesive we use is pressure sensitive and cures when pressed hard together and continues to cure over time. PVA glue dries slowly enough that you should have time to reposition your parts if you happen to mis-align them. But if something happens that causes you to need a replacement part, it’s easy to get what you need; just see below for our order form.
Q: How can I protect my model once its built?
We encourage you to order a clear acrylic display cases to keep your prized model in pristine condition, an option when you choose your model in our shop. Furniture wax will help preserve all our models EXCEPT the Farnsworth House, which is mostly acrylic. Getting wax all over the clear windows would detract from their original look, and could be be difficult to remove. The white Aspen wood in the Farnsworth House has a natural waxy appearance. If you choose a cherry base for your Farnsworth House model, we recommend waxing that.
Q. I need a replacement part for my kit.
Model Landmarks will replace up to three (3) parts for your kit at no charge, including mailing within the United States. No charge parts will be mailed using USPS First Class. If you need more parts or need them faster, please contact CustomerService@modellandmarks.com for pricing. Replacement parts are available within 90 days of original purchase. We do not exchange or provide a refund for complete model kits. All sales are considered Final Sale and cannot be returned for online store credit.
