The 19th Century frontier home spoke of strong character, hardworking people, and yes, a few rogues. Revisit that time today by building your own frontier home. Careful craftsmanship and detailed design are evident in this fine American Cherry wood model. It’s a joy to build, in an evening or two, and a beauty to behold for many years.
Remember how Tom Sawyer talked other boys into painting the fence for him? And even got them to pay for the privilege? The frontier demanded hard work - and it held endless possibilities. Maybe this is Tom and Aunt Polly’s house. Maybe he stepped over a squeaky board as he tried to slip past the garden and by the saloon so he could skip out on his chores.
Now, you can create your own frontier town and bring that spirit home to your desktop, bookshelf or mantel.
While the Frontier is etched in the American experience, during the 1800s, the Frontier spirit was in fact alive and well throughout the world. This model is based on regional architectural styles that were familiar throughout England, Australia, and the American West, and is reminiscent of classic terrace buildings with colonial design details.
Our Paddington model has a lovely verandah with a detailed fenced enclosure. Frontier-era builders were meticulous about detail and our model is as well. Notice the two-pane sashes on the second story of our Paddington model, complementing the single-pane sash windows on the ground level. Window frames featured rendered architraves; raised motifs and decorative support brackets adorned the exterior walls.
No details were spared with our model; the rear of the building is as well-crafted as the front. High-quality materials throughout and careful attention to the entire structure means you can gaze into the interior and imagine what it was like to live in that frontier town.
Kit includes wooden parts and sandpaper. Wood glue is required to complete the model and is not included with the kit.
